Post-Event Report

Thanks to Daphne and Fred Hamond for organising and controlling very efficiently and their help in making sure all the controls went in the right place.

Gavin did a sterling job all night in the chip van and even discovered how to get the results updating automatically once every minute on the screen in the wall of the van - v impressive. Wilson was first to arrive (with the trailer), last to leave and helped all night. Mind you, it didn't seem to do his time any harm at all.

Controls 2 and 8 on the long course caused problems for a few people. There are unmapped tracks between 1 and 2 which made it difficult - its almost impossible to keep up with the activities of the mountain bikers. There was a case for just going back out into the open after 1 and bombing around the edge of the forest to a convenient attack point.

The ride at control 8 was almost overgrown, but I hoped the proximity to the power lines and the two thickets in the open adjacent to the end would prevent people from wasting too much time.

Anyway, most people enjoyed a good blast round on a lovely evening.

Finally, shame on Jonathan McCloy for beating up juniors and novices on the Short Course.
