InstructionsThe 10th of the WEE series 2014 is being held on the brand new map of Victoria Park in Belfast. Victoria Park, situated in east Belfast, opened in 1906. One of the park’s biggest attractions is its lake, which was originally used for boating. Today, it is home to a range of water birds such as swans, geese, ducks, herons and migrant waders. Some of the waders have also been recorded in the Baltic Sea and Scandinavia. The park is home to Victoria Park Playing Fields, which contains soccer pitches, a bowling green and a cycling and BMX track. The park also has two walking trails that centre around the lake.
As usual, two courses will be available on the night - there will be a long (approx 3.9 Km) and a short (approx 2.4 Km) course (Parents/Guardians should note potential water hazard if children participating)
Registration will take place from 6.30 pm, with starts from 7.00 pm until 7:45 pm. The courses will close at 8.30 pm sharp.
If possible please remember to pre enter online - This makes the job easier for the volunteers who have given up their time to put on this event. The entry fee includes a pre-printed map. If you pre-enter, you can pick up your control descriptions and proceed directly to the start. If you pre-enter and are hiring a dibber, you can collect it from registration which will be based in a tent as we are unable to get the MOO into the park. Otherwise, complete the registration form at the tent and then enter on the night. For safety reasons, please give your name, dibber number and course to the marshal at the Start.
Please note the following safety information Courses are both sides of the canal and competitors should note that the canal is out of bounds and should not be crossed.
As usual, all are very welcome!
DirectionsParking will be in the main car park, located off Park Avenue, where the tent will be used for Registration.
The car park is not accessible from the Sydenham Bypass so should be approached from the Hollywood Road which can be accessed from either the Upper Newtownards Road and the A55 Outer Ring.
