Instructions WEE 11 is in an old favourite, Ormeau Park, scene of 2012's SwimO in the aftermath of the June deluge. Let's hope for dry weather this time. The oldest municipal park in Belfast, it was officially opened to the public in 1871.It is owned and run by Belfast City Council and is one of the largest and busiest parks in the city.It contains a variety of horticulture, woodland, wildlife and sporting facilities including a 9 hole golf course.
The courses will be approximately 4.0km and 2.0 km, depending on final adjustments - keep watching here for updates. Courses are planned to make the best of the park and avoid the undergrowth, which is still reasonably low. The park is relatively flat with many mapped bushes, trees, paths, hedges and small areas of woodland.
Registration will open in the car park (indicated on the map below) from 6.15 pm, with starts from 6.30 pm until 7.30 pm. The courses will close at 8.30 pm.
On-line entries are now open at a discount. On the evening entries are more expensive at £3 for juniors, £6 for seniors with discount for members, and £15.00 for family groups.
If you are bringing a large group it would be extremely helpful if you could email the Organiser or Planner (click on links above) with a list of names of those who will be taking part and whether they will be doing the Short or Long course. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate, but would save long queues on the night and speed things up.
DirectionsThe LVO Trailer (the MOO) will be parked in the O Zone car park, accessed off the Ormeau Embankment. Remember that the Ravenhill Road is closed while they fill in the 'voids'
