Today was the second race of the WEE series, held at the Botanic Gardens. We saw over a 100 competitors running today in the busy University area on courses planned by Jan Smicka. Initially we had difficulties coping with the number of runners arriving, but thanks to help of other orienteers we were able to start everyone in a short period of time. The finish control had to be moved due to very recent road works, hope that did not cause too much distress. Thanks to everyone for running, we hope you enjoyed the race. If you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact us.
InstructionsLong course 3.3km, Short 2.0km. Full leg cover optional.
The MOO and the start will be situated near the McClay library, it will be open from 6:45pm until 8:00pm. The courses will close at 8:30pm.
The race will take place both in the Botanic gardens and the University area- so we advise off-road shoes (but the race would be doable in trainers as well). There is some work being done around the QUB, the respective areas will be marked as off-bound on the map.
Parking is available near the McClay library, but it is limited. There is some parking space in the adjacent streets of the University area. There is also car parking available beside the PEC- if you resort to parking there please walk over to the start via Rugby Road so you do not pass through the race area.
Looking forward to seeing you all there :)
