Post-Event Report
The third WEE event at Lagan Meadows saw over 90 runners out on a glorious sunny evening. One of the controls was causing a issue for some runners but this has now been resolved and accounted for in the results by Declan. Thankyou to everyone who offered their assistance on the evening and to Shaun Henry for planning the course. The next LVO event is the Spring Cup on Saturday 24 May at Stormont. Ideal follow up for those who have only competed in the WEE series. Stormont is a mixture of parkland and urban terrain, further details on the main LVO site.
InstructionsLagan Meadows situated in South Belfast alongside the River Lagan is a 120 acre park set aside for wildlife and public recreation. The park is made up of woodland, meadows and wetlands with a central region managed as a nature reserve. This reserve is out of bounds.
The long course is 3.4 km and the short course is 2.3 km
There are areas of open water(parents of small children please note the water hazard)and seasonal marsh. Given our seasons, the long course participants can expect damp feet! the short course avoids the seasonal marsh! Full leg cover is advised (especially for long course) but short sleeves may be worn. There are a number of fences and hedges, please cross these using the gates and stiles. Some cattle have recently appeared in the meadows - they are docile - ignore them and they will ignore you. Courses open at 1845 and close at 8.00pm.
DirectionsParking will be on the road in Kightsbridge Park beside the Belfast YMCA. Knightsbridge Park can be accessed from the Malone Road via Bladon Drive or from the Stranmillis Road via Richmond Park (passed Stranmillis Primary School).
