Post-Event Report

The post-event report has not yet been added by the event organiser...

Welcome to Ballyclare and the Sixmilewater Park, which straddles the same river you may well have crossed at the Antrim Castle WEE. Strangely Six Mile Water is three words when it reaches Antrim, but in Ballyclare it's a single word Sixmilewater!

The map has been resurveyed and extended since the last outing. At this event we will be introducing two new helpful map symbols, which actually are strictly not valid until the start of next year. These are:
A darker paved brown for areas of high traffic.
A brown/white diagonal stripe to better show underpasses as well as the dashed lines.
You can preview an example of the changes these symbols make at http://ocad.com/blog/2019/05/issprom-2019/

Registration opens at 6.30 pm with starts from 6.45 pm to 7.30 pm. Courses will close at 8.00 pm in order that the controls can be collected in reasonable time.

Two very nice courses have been planed by Simon: Long course at 3.9km and a Short course at 2.3km. The Long course requires the crossing of several roads but these are in areas of very light traffic. The Highway Code must be observed at all times.

Entry fee £7 adult, £5 adult member, £4 Junior non-member, £3 Junior / Student / Unwaged, free for adults going with a Junior. If you are bringing a group please let us know in advance as it speeds up registration on the night and we can be sure we have printed sufficient maps.

Ccar parking will be at Sixmile Leisure Centre Ballynure Road, Ballyclare BT39 9YU, where there is adequate parking. The Mobile Orienteering Office (MOO) for registration will be parked there with starts and finish close by.

Ballyclare is only 14 miles from Belfast, accessed via the M2 to Mallusk, A8(M) and B94 Hillhead Road. Once in Ballyclare turn right to the first mini-roundabout, and right again at the second mini-roundabout and then the access road to the leisure centre will be on your left just after Ballyclare War Memorial Park.
