What Happened- An Organiser's Report

The weather stayed fair for the duration of the competition and I hope that you all enjoyed running in a new area. There are some very fast times in the results in spite of my added spiral up the motte at control 12 on the long course and most people completed the courses successfully.

Strangely, the last control was the least popular in that two competitors decided not to visit it. How many of you spotted the gap in the hedge at the final control?

The event was marred by a couple of problems at control sites. The SI unit at control 4 on the short course failed to work and the SI unit at control 11 on the long course was stolen. Both incidents occurred early and affected all competitors. I hope that no one lost too much time and the courses have been adjusted to ensure that no one is disqualified for missing either of these two controls.

Thanks to Violet, Richard and Alan, who all helped out on the night.

Next week's event, which is the last in the series is at Cairn Wood, on the Dunledy Road between Dundonald and Bangor. We hope to see you all there.
